Putin: Russia’s 2022 results to outperform preliminary calculations
ARKHANGELSK/MOSCOW, Feb 13 (PRIME) – Russia’s 2022 economic performance will be better than preliminary calculations, President Vladimir Putin said late on February 10 during a meeting with Arkhangelsk Region’s Governor Alexander Tsybulsky.
“The year of 2022 for Russia will be even better than our preliminary calculations showed,” he said.
Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on February 11 that the 2022 gross domestic product (GDP) would contract less than expected, and that the current estimates for 2023 were more optimistic than the previous expectations.
The ministry’s current 2023 forecast says that the GDP will contract by 0.8%, The authority is to publish a revised macroeconomic forecast in March–April.
“And the estimates that we are making for this year are more optimistic than we expected before,” Reshetnikov said without elaborating.
